The Ranji Trophy schedule and team list for the 89th season of the Ranji Trophy was released on Sunday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The start date for the Ranji Trophy, India’s top domestic competition, is January 5, 2024. The competition will go on for about two and a half months, and the Final will be held on March 14, 2024, just a few weeks before the start of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL 2024 season is anticipated to start in the first week of April. Due to their victory over Bengal in the previous season’s championship game, Saurashtra is currently the reigning Ranji champion. For the past few years, Saurashtra has dominated the Ranji Trophy competition.

While the runners-up Bengal are in Group B of the Elite round, the defending champions Saurashtra have been kept in Group A. According to the standings from the previous season, four elite and one plate groups have been established. The Plate group includes Nagaland, Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh. The teams in Group A include Saurashtra, Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Services, and Manipur.
